About the book
Leaving Home for Colonel Sanders is a tale of entrepreneurship, friendship, imagination, bravery and bold ambition. It was commissioned by the Lapointe family to tell the extraordinary story of how Kentucky Fried Chicken made it to Australian shores, and how a 21 year-old kid captured the attention and respect of the legendary Colonel Harland Sanders.
About the author
Kirsty de Garis is a Sydney-based journalist. She studied history in Sydney and London, and worked at The Observer newspaper in London for several years before returning to Australia to work on The Australians at War Film Archive. Kirsty then directed a feature documentary film about Vanity Fair special correspondent Dominick Dunne before taking the role of Deputy Head of Curation at TEDxSydney. Kirsty is now the editor of Dumbo Feather magazine.
